Anna & Lan are a collective of computational artists and developers,
specializing in creative uses of natural language processing (NLP). They
are passionate about creating computational tools for groups who are
marginalized from traditional, for-profit, and efficiency-driven
technologies. They want to know: what would NLP technologies look like if
they were made for creative writers and performers, rather than
engineers and data scientists? What can we learn about ourselves and our
technologies by empowering new creative voices?
Anna has an MFA in
Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, a BA in Linguistics
from Stanford University, and industry experience building Automatic
Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding technologies at
Google. Lan also
received an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design,
a BS in Advertising from Syracuse University, and worked as an art
director at Publicis NY. She has delivered performances/talks at Recurse
Center, Culture Hub and Basbycastles.
