Hindsight Guestbook
A procedurally-generated story of distant togetherness, created as part of the Parsons Design & Technology virtual thesis show.
In the Spring of 2020, gallery spaces across the world closed, classes finished online, and our MFA thesis festival– once meant to be a physical show– went completely virtual. As part of our online exhibition (Hindsight 2020), we created Hindsight Guestbook: a procedurally-generated story of togetherness built inside the digital show. Every visitor to the festival website leaves anonymous data footprints as they explore the site. We use these footprints to build half-real/half-imagined story of people coming together from distant locations to share in learning, design, and art-making.
